• The Farmhouse That Built Me •
If you met me as a little girl, you would see stacks of beautiful home floor plan magazines all over my room that I would beg my mom to get me at the grocery store. In those magazines, I would study every nook and cranny of what made a house a home. From our tiny little apartment, I would flip through my mom’s Victoria magazines and visualize what a beautiful home life could be within the walls I studied.
As a little girl, I had a poster on my wall that said “Before the reality comes the dream,” as I would visualize my future self designing beautiful homes for people to live in. I got the best gifts from both my parents with a mom who taught me how to dream big, and a dad who taught me how to turn those dreams into a reality.
Something in my soul has always wanted to leave the world a more beautiful place than I found it… to create beauty along whatever path God lead me down each season.
What started with studying architecture in college, shifted to a decade long career as a wedding photographer documenting people’s most beautiful days. Now in this later season as a wife and mom, my love for homes has come back around full circle through my own little White Florida Farmhouse, and the roots we are planting here as a family.
Inch by inch, my husband and I have poured loved into transforming an old brown home into our dream white farmhouse, with a wrap around porch, and a fancy white chicken coop in the back. Through documenting our fixer upper adventures on my Instagram, and having our home featured in American Farmhouse Style magazine, it has evolved into a new season of designing homes again through the tiny home and farmhouse floor plans I sell in my Etsy shop.
It has been a joy to now help others create their dream homes, both building from the ground up, and inspiring families for what they create within the walls, as I watch my own childhood dreams indeed become a reality decades later.
We are never too old to embrace what we loved as a child.
